The opening of Curtocircuíto will host a live cinema specially designed for this event. The ephemeral group Submarina de Improvisación (Xavier Bértolo, keyboards and synthesisers, Paulo Pascual, theremin, and Saúl Puga, contrabass) will play live music to the film “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” (Stuart Paton, 1916). The film is a naïve and pretentious (bordering on vaudevillian) adaptation of Jules Verne's novel of the same name. The production, however, benefited from the technical developments of John Ernest Williamson, who had developed the first underwater photography and filming system only a year earlier. This innovative encounter between science and art is the main reason for the choice of this film. It is one of the convergences the festival wants to explore through various activities.
As a culmination of this edition of the festival, we will hold a closing event that will begin with the performance of BROMO, CRISPR the Pattern of Life. In addition, we will present awards to the winners of the different categories and we will screen the winning film from the Official Section.

#OutraCompostela is an opportunity to encourage creativity among students. Through the pieces created, students will construct an alternative vision of Santiago de Compostela using content on social networks with a cinematographic narrative.
The competition consists of creating a piece that is a ‘portrait of your Compostela where the concepts of silence, depth or darkness appear freely’, alluding to the ocean depths, which is the theme of this edition. In this way, students will be encouraged to reflect on the space they inhabit. At the same time, they explore their city and generate content on social networks that reflects an alternative vision that questions the usual images of Santiago de Compostela.
