Terra Australis Incognita is an experimental project on Antarctica. It is built on archival aerial footage produced by the US Navy during a number of different missions throughout the second half of the 20th century. By the juxtapositions of the US Navy archives to found footage and 3D modeling, the project seeks to reflect on and critically engage with this territorial colonial project.

With 45 miles in length, 20 miles width, and a depth of 76 feet in the basin‘s center, Salton Sea was the largest inland lake in California. The U.S. Navy started using it in 1939 for testing the performance of seaplanes. In 1944, Salton Sea became the site for the first atomic bomb tests.

In 1924, a marine crinoid fossil is unearthed near the summit of Mount Everest, a famous British moutaineer disappears and a Soviet leader dies. Synchronicity is the starting point of a narrative on the transformation of matter. In a vast movement, substances metamorphose, scales and temporalities overlap and human bodies nestle in the depths of great terrestrial processes.

Pseudosphynx is the scientifc name of the fire-caterpillars before they become butterfies, or as they're commonly (and auspiciously) called: witches. Pseudosphynx thus is at the same time a sphynx, meaning inhuman chthonic monstrosity that makes up riddles; and pseudo, as in artifcial, insincere, deceptive, unreal, illusive or mimetic. Pseudosphynx keeps its meaning veiled, like a secret kept by those who save in their retinas the haptic impression of its fight.
