Curmaos

For a lustrum, Curtocircuíto has maintained a strong commitment to the cinema and the Portuguese culture that is materialised in this edition through the Curmaos programme, which seeks to strengthen the fraternity between Galicia and Portugal and ratify the strength of the Atlantic Euroregion in cultural matters. This affinity translates into different actions, such as the presence of Portuguese judges (Directors João Nicolau and Pedro Maia, the programmer and distributor Salette Ramalho and the actress Ana Moreira), the festival's attention due to the emergence of new perspectives in the Púlsar section that was already dedicated to João Salaviza, Ana Vaz and Gabriel Abrantes) and in retrospectives, like the one dedicated to the company that produced O som e a fúria [The Sound and the Fury], representative of the strength of Portuguese cinema and one of the Portuguese production companies with more runs, as well as an average of 6 Lusophone films in the Festival’s Official Section.

This line of action transcends the programming itself and includes initiatives such as the Curtocircuíto’s collaboration with film festivals such as Vila do Conde, PortoPostDoc and IndieLisboa, and in the appearances of Portuguese bands like Ricardo Remedio and Equations, in the Festival's music concerts.

For the first time, Curmaos crystallises in a panoramic session that puts the attention on Lusophone films of the past year.

All these actions are developed with the collaboration and co-funding of the Instituto Camões.
